Two men charged over Qld shopping centre, servo bomb hoaxes

Two men have been charged over a number of bomb hoaxes which forced the evacuation of a Qld shopping centre and service station in Rockhampton.

The first hoax was made around 8.00am on June 22, when a threatening phone call was allegedly made to staff at a business located in a shopping centre on Yaamba Road at Park Avenue.

The centre was evacuated before police were able to determine the threats to be unsubstantiated.

At around 8pm on the same day, another threatening phone call was allegedly made to staff at a service station on Lower Dawson Road at Allenstown.

Following investigations into the threats, police arrested two Gracemere men, aged 24 and 22.

They were each charged with two counts of bomb hoax and are due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
