Two men found dead, presumed murdered, in unrelated incidents

TWO men have been found dead, presumed murdered, in unrelated incidents across Melbourne overnight.

Police were first called to Footscray just before 7pm after a man was found critically injured on Ashley St.

The man was unresponsive and, despite the best efforts of paramedics to revive him, sadly died at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death are yet to be determined. The homicide squad is investigating.

Around 90 minutes later, police were called to a death at a house on McGregor Court in Sunshine West.

It’s understood an altercation occurred inside the home around 8.30pm, during which a 44-year-old man died.

A 42-year-old woman who was at the home at the time was also injured in the altercation.

She was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

A 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

He is being questioned by detectives from the homicide squad.

In a statement, police said all three parties – the arrested, the deceased, and the injured – are known to each other.

They are all from Sunshine West.
