Two men horrifically beaten and stabbed during terrifying Tweed home invasion
Two men have been beaten with bats and stabbed after three men broke into a home in Tweed Heads South overnight.
The frightening attack, which may have been a case of mistaken identity, occurred just after 9.30pm.
Police said the three men forced entry into a home on Russell Way armed with bats and cutting implements.
Whilst inside, two men, aged 51 and 52, were beaten with the bats and the 51-year-old man was stabbed multiple times.
The trio then fled the scene.
A crime scene has since been established, with police following a number of lines of inquiry, including whether the incorrect home was targeted.
The victims are in a stable condition in hospital.
