Two men hospitalised after nasty crash at busy Gold Coast intersection

Police are investigating a serious crash in Burleigh Heads overnight, which saw two men hospitalised, one with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to Bermuda Street and Reedy Creek Road around 10.20 pm, following reports of a two-car crash.

It’s understood a Mitsubishi Lancer was travelling south on Bermuda Street when it collided with a Nissan X-Trail at the intersection.

The Lancer then rolled over a street barrier, across the dirt and down into a ravine, before hitting a tree and finally stopping.

The X-trail just spun out.

The 36-year-old driver of the Lancer was assessed at the scene by critical care paramedics and taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition with significant lower leg injuries and internal injuries.

The other driver, a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital for observation.

Police investigations are ongoing.
