Two on the run after jewellery shop smash and grab on the Gold Coast

Two people are on the run this morning after a jewellery store was smashed and robbed in Palm Beach.

Early investigations have found that the pair kicked their way through the glass panel at the front of the business on the Gold Coast Highway around 2.40 am today.

They were dressed in dark clothing when they entered the premises, stealing a quantity of jewellery before fleeing.

A member of the public then spotted the offenders getting away in a dark coloured Mercedes.

Police say a similar vehicle was later found burnt out on Heather Street in Tallebudgera.

The pair remains at large this morning, while investigations are continuing.
