Two people charged over ‘body in suitcase’ murder

A man and woman have been charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found stuffed inside a suitcase in Western Australia more than two months ago.

The 68-year-old man and 25-year-old woman were taken into custody yesterday following ongoing investigations by Major Crime Squad detectives.

Their arrests come just weeks after police identified the woman as 57-year-old Annabelle Chen.

Ms Chen’s body was located inside a suitcase on the Swan River, in East Fremantle, on July 2.

In a statement, police said Ms Chen led a self-sufficient lifestyle, and she has been described as a private, caring and spiritual person who was interested in art.

The pair are due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
