Two people face weapons and drug charges after Broadbeach fire

Two people have been charged after a building caught alight at Broadbeach Waters on Thursday afternoon.

Police went to Rudd Street at around 2:30pm.  The QFES extinguished the fire, but there was damage to the garage and front room of the dwelling.

Officers say they found several firearms, including two handguns and a rifle, as well as a quantity of cannabis and methylamphetamine at the scene.

A 39-year-old Pacific Pines man has been charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, six counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of receiving tainted property, possessing anything for use in the commission of a crime and possessing utensils or pipes.

A 24-year-old woman from Pacific Pines has been charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, six counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of receiving tainted property, possessing anything for use in the commission of a crime and possessing utensils or pipes.

They are both due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 3.
