Two planes almost collide over Gold Coast

Investigators will look at how two planes almost collided over the Gold Coast last Thursday.

A full Jetstar flight from Melbourne reportedly came within 150 metres of an Air Asia plane.

Alarms sounded in both aircraft as the planes came perilously close over the ocean about 6km from Gold Coast Airport last Thursday, The Courier Mail reports.

The Jetstar pilots were forced to steer their aircraft up into a climb so they didn’t hit each other.

Passenger aircraft in Australia are not meant to travel any closer to each other than 305m.
