Two-storey home destroyed by massive blaze, Gilston

Fire crews have spent the night battling a massive blaze, which destroyed a home in Gilston.

They were called to the property along Gilston Road around 6.30pm, where the two-storey building was well involved.

Multiple crews spent hours trying to get the flames under control, with heavy machinery also called in to help.


Gilston/Advancetown Rural Fire Brigade was on scene, as well as the Bonogin Valley Rural Fire Brigade.

It’s understood some crews remain on scene this morning.

Firies have thanked locals for their assistance and cooperation during the night.

“Thank you to everyone who has contacted the Brigade,” Gilston/Advancetown Rural Fire Brigade posted on Facebook.

“There is a house fire on Gilston Road. As it is a narrow road we would appreciate everyone to keep away to allow free flow of emergency vehicles.

“Police, Ambulance and Fire on site,” the post read.

Paramedics remained on scene, but luckily no injuries have been reported.
