UK police probe white powder, racist letter sent to St James’s Royal Palace

Counter-terror police are investigating after a package containing a suspicious substance and racist letter was sent to St James’s Palace in central London.

The letter, which local media report was addressed to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, arrived at the palace on Monday.

“Police are investigating after a package containing a substance was delivered to St James’s Palace on Monday, 12 February,” UK police said in a statement.


“The substance was tested and confirmed as non-suspicious,” they said.

According to the statement, the package was accompanied by a racist letter.

“Officers are also investigating an allegation of malicious communications which relates to the same package, and it is being treated as a racist hate crime.”

No arrests have yet been made. Inquiries continue.
