Scott Braeden Belcher, 21, pleaded guilty to raping the woman in Adelaide in October 2013 after a night out drinking.
In sentencing in the District Court on Monday, Judge Steven Millsteed said on the night of the incident Belcher looked after the girl while she was drunk before he raped her.
The woman, who is also a student, awoke during the incident and heard Belcher’s voice, the court was told.

Judge Millsteed said while Belcher showed remorse and was unlikely to re-offend, the prison sentence would not be suspended.
“You must understand, the courts can not tolerate conduct of this kind towards young women,” he said.
“You took advantage of a grossly intoxicated young woman. (It) has had a marked impact on her.”
Belcher’s parents watched on in court and his mother broke down in tears when the sentence was handed down.
He was jailed for three years, seven months and two weeks with a non-parole period of 12 months.
