Unlicensed driver charged after motorbike rider dies in horror hit-and-run

An unlicensed driver has been charged over a horrific crash which claimed the life of a motorcyclist at Kallangur yesterday.

Police said that around 2.30pm, a white Holden commodore collided with a motorcycle on Ann Street.

The station wagon then allegedly crashed into a black ute parked in a nearby yard, before the driver of the Holden, a 20-year-old man, ran from the scene leaving his damaged vehicle behind.

Shortly after the crash, police tracked down the man at a nearby home.

He was taken into custody and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, failing to perform duties and liabilities of drivers involved in road accidents and unlicensed driving.

The 43-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene.
