Unlicensed driver charged over fatal hit and run

A 24-YEAR-OLD man will face court tomorrow, charged over a fatal hit and run north of the Gold Coast.

The man was driving a truck which collided with a motorcycle on Waterford-Tamoborine Road at Logan Village on June 15. The rider, a 22-year-old man from Cedar Grove, died at the scene.

Following a protracted investigation by Logan CIB and the Forensic Crash Unit, detectives today raided two properties and arrested the 24-year-old man.

He has since been charged with one count each of dangerous driving causing death, failing to remain at the scene of a crash and unlicensed driving.

The man is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police are still urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant dashcam footage, to contact them.
