Unoccupied houseboat sinks on the Gold Coast

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a sinking boat on the broad water this morning, though were quickly rendered unnecessary.

Paramedics and the Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) were called to the waters in Biggera Waters around 11.00am.

A houseboat was seen sinking just off Marine Parade near Parr Street.

Luckily, and mysteriously, no one was on board the vessel.

VMR confirmed they attended the incident though weren’t needed to do much.

A short time later a man was spotted trying to salvage belongs of the houseboat.

Only a couple of hours after it was reported, the vessel is only partially submerged.

It’s unclear whether the incident will be investigated.
