UPDATE | Body of teen found at popular Gold Coast waterhole
UPDATE 31/12/16 6:15AM | The search for a teenager missing in a popular Gold Coast Hinterland waterhole has ended in tragedy, with his body found overnight.
The 19-year-old had been enjoying a day out at the heart shaped Killarney Glen swimming hole at Beechmont on Friday morning when he went under and never resurfaced.
He had been with friends at the time, while his family arrived at the scene after the news broke.
Members of the Police Dive Squad located his body. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
EARLIER 30/12/16 1.45pm: A fleet of emergency service vehicles have now arrived at the Killarney Glen Waterfalls as the search for a young swimmer intensifies.
Police say the 19-year-old man disappeared while swimming upstream in the popular heart-shaped waterhole at Beechmont around 11.00am.
Scores of police, fire and ambulance personnel as well as swift water rescue crews have saturated the area in the search for the young man who remains missing.
Swimmers have been cleared out of the water and the area has been closed to the public.

EARLIER @ 11.45am: Paramedics have raced to the Killarney Glen Waterfalls in the Gold Coast Hinterland amid reports a young man has jumped into the water and failed to resurface.
Queensland Ambulance tells myGC five ambulances have been dispatched to the famous heart shaped waterhole at Beechmont.
