UPDATE 8/10/16 8:10AM | A 55-year-old man has been charged over the deadly crash in far north Queensland. He will face Cairns Court on Saturday.
UPDATE 7/10/16 1:00PM | AT least one person is dead and five others have been seriously injured after a car ploughed into a crowd of mourners at a funeral in far north Queensland.
It’s understood the vehicle drove into a building on Kowanyama Street in the small tight-knit community of Kowanyama around 10.30am on Friday.

The building is believed to be a house. Police said a large number of people had gathered at the residence for a funeral.
Police said early information indicated that one man has been pronounced dead at the scene.
At least five other people are believed to have been seriously injured.
Police said a coordinated investigative response was being organised to deal with the incident.
Dozens of emergency service personnel are on the scene, attending to the injured.
It’s understood crews from the Royal Flying Doctors Service are also en route from Cairns and Townsville.
Investigators, Scenes of Crime officers and forensic police are expected to be flown into the community this afternoon.
Police say the male driver of the vehicle is assisting police with their investigations.
There is no further information available at this time.
EARLIER 12:30PM | A CAR has reportedly ploughed into a large crowd of people at a funeral in far north Queensland.
It’s understood the vehicle crashed into a building at Kowanyama in Cape York just before 11.45am.
Early reports suggest one person has been killed, while many others are feared injured.
Paramedics are racing to the scene, and Royal Flying Doctors Service crews are en route from Cairns and Townsville.
