UPDATE: A man’s been charged over a crash on the Sundale Bridge on Wednesday morning.
A 30-year-old Surfers Paradise man has been issued with a Notice to Appear charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, offence of driving while relevant drug is present in the blood, and unlicensed driving. He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on August 3.
EARLIER: Witnesses have held down a driver who tried to escape after crashing head-on into a car containing a woman and two small children on the Gold Coast this morning.

The terrifying accident occurred on the Gold Coast Highway just before the Sundale Bridge around 9.30am.
Nine News Journalist Darren Curtis told myGC that drivers observed the car driving erratically with its hazard lights on before it swerved onto the wrong side of the road, colliding head-on with a car.
The man allegedly tried to make a run for it, however was detained by witnesses and security until police arrived.
Police have been told the man threw away a large bottle of Vodka before he was detained.
He has now been taken to the watch house where he is helping police with their inquiries.
The mother and two children have been transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Motorists have been urged to avoid the area with traffic delays being experienced.
