UPDATE: Motorcyclist rushed to hospital after crash at Smith Street
UPDATE: A motorbike rider has been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries, after he hit the guard rail on the Smith Street off-ramp heading south.
He suffered various injuries, including a broken leg in the crash at Arundel on Tuesday morning.
Congestion is back to the Westfield Helensvale exit.
EARLIER: A nightmare run heading south on the M1 at the Smith Street off ramp after a car and bike came together.
The crash was reported a short time ago and is causing major delays on the Pacific Motorway and on the on-ramp itself.
Motorists report that half a dozen ambulances, fire crews, police and a couple of tow trucks are there.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the motorbike rider, a man in his 40’s, would be taken to hospital with a broken leg.
