Health authorities say a Queensland trial of a coronavirus vaccine is going very well, with early results proving effective.

The University of Queensland shot has produced no severe side effects during the early stages of the human trials.

While animals who recovered from the virus have better immunity levels when given the vaccine.

Principal Medical Advisor to the Department of Health Michael Kidd told The Today Show these are great results.

“We have some of the top vaccine researches in the world based in our country who are putting their efforts into finding the vaccine for Covid 19.

“Very encouraging to see these early results coming out from the trials being run by the University of Queensland,” Professor Kidd .
