Tragic end to search for missing elderly man from Coolangatta

UPDATE @ October 3: There’s been a tragic end to the search for an elderly man reported missing from Coolangatta.

Queensland Police confirmed in a statement early Thursday morning that the 87-year-old has been located deceased.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

EARLIER @ October 2, 9.30 AM | POLICE have released a new photo as the desperate search for an elderly man missing from Coolangatta continues.

William Fakes was last seen around 8.00am on Monday, at a home on Coolangatta Road.

Police say concerns are being held for the 87-year-old’s welfare due to his age.

His family also say that this behaviour is out of character.

Mr Fake is described as Caucasian, 170cm tall, very thin with grey hair and glasses.

He is possibly wearing a sweatshirt, pants and runners.

Anyone who sees him or has any information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Police.

EARLIER @ October 1, 2.00 PM | Police are seeking urgent help from the public to track down an elderly man who has gone missing from Coolangatta.

87-year-old William Fakes was last seen around 8am yesterday at a home on Coolangatta Rd.

Police say he has a deteriorating medical condition and they and his family hold serious concerns for his welfare.

Mr Fakes is described as Caucasian with grey hair and brown eyes.

Police say he may seem confused if approached.

Anyone who sees him or has any information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Police.
