“We don’t know the details of what has happened, but have been in contact with French officials to offer our condolences and our full support.”

“This is a heartbreaking situation and obviously us here in the United States know what it’s like. Whenever these kinds of attacks happened (here) we have always counted on the French people to stand with us. They have been an extraordinary counter-terrorism partner and we intend to bear with them in that same fashion.”

“I’m sure that in the days ahead we will learn more about what happened. I don’t want to speculate at this point as to who was responsible for this.”

No one has yet taken responsibility for the attacks which have included a shooting at a restaurant, bombing at a bar and hostage situation at a theatre.
