US TERROR SCARE: Flight from NYC to Istanbul grounded due to bomb threat

A Turkish Airlines flight from New York City to Instanbul has been diverted to land in Canada following a bomb threat.

Authorities at the Halifax Stanflield International Airport said on Sunday the plane landed safely and was now under investigation by local police.

There were 256 people on board.

The bomb threat was received around 10.50pm local time with the plane already in the air, having departed the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

This comes as terror alert levels are at all time highs around the world following the recent Paris terror attacks that claimed 130 lives.
