Former US “The Bachelor” star Colton Underwood has come out as gay in an emotional interview on Good Morning America.
The 29-year-old, who was the leading man on Season 23 of the popular reality show in 2019, said he finally got to a place where he was able to be honest with himself while in quarantine.
“Obviously this year’s been a lot for a lot of people, and it’s probably made a lot of people look themselves in the mirror and figure out who they are and what they’ve been running from and putting off in their lives,” he told GMA host Robin Roberts.

“For me, I’ve ran from myself for a long time and I’ve hated myself for a long time, and I’m gay. I came to terms with that that earlier this year and have been processing it.
Unerwood said “the next step in all of this is sort of letting people know”.
“I’m still nervous but it’s been a journey for sure… I’m emotional, but I’m emotional in such a good, happy positive way,” he told Roberts.
“I’m like the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. That means the world to me.”
The former American football player dated Bachelor contestant Cassie Randolph, who received the final rose, for a number of months before the pair called it quits last year.
The split came just months after Underwood tested positive to COVID-19, however, he has since recovered.
