Ute towing stolen sports car involved in early morning crash

Investigations are underway after a Toyota Hilux towing a stolen red sports car crashed at Slacks Creek early this morning.

Police first spotted the vehicle while patrolling Jacobs Well Road just after 3.00am.

It’s understood the ute was sighted travelling into Pimpama when it went around a roundabout and blew out tyres on the trailer after striking the medium strip.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC the vehicle then continued onto the Pacific Motorway northbound and was allegedly “swerving and driving dangerously” on the M1.

“The vehicle failed to stop for police and continued north into Logan taking the Murray Road exit at Slacks Creek and failed to negotiate the bend and crashed on the hill,” police said.

The driver, a 27-year-old man, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries.

He is assisting police with enquiries.

Exit 26 northbound at Shailer Park remains blocked, with motorists urged to seek alternative routes.
