Vacant home goes up in flames in Sydney

Fire has destroyed a vacant house in Sydney’s west overnight.

Neighbours dialled triple zero after noticing flames in Browning Place at Lalor Park at about 6:40pm on Sunday.

Fire fighters extinguished the blaze within the hour but the building was destroyed.

Police from Blacktown Local Area Command have initiated an investigation.

They’ve been told the building has been vacant for about 15 years.

The cause of the fire is not clear so it is being treated as suspicious.

The scene will be examined when it is safe to go inside.
