Vanuatu hit by powerful magnitude 6.1 earthquake
A STRONG earthquake, measuring 6.1 on the richter scale has struck Vanuatu.
The US Geological Survey said the quake hit 30 kilometers west of the capital Port Vila, at a depth of 21 kilometers.
Geoscience Australia said the quake could have caused damage up to 43km away and could have been felt by people up to 545km away.
There have been no reports of any injuries at this stage.
