A TEENAGE girl has died and a young man is fighting for his life in hospital after the car they were travelling in lost control around a bend and struck a tree in Kew overnight.
It’s understood a Toyota sedan was travelling south on Yarra Boulevard, near Yarra Street, when it lost control in a right hand bend about 11.30pm.
The car then struck a road sign and tree on the eastern side of the road.

The passenger, a teenage girl, was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life threatening injuries, but died at hospital.
The driver, a 20-year-old Vermont man, was also taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
