THE Gold Coast branch of the Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group will this weekend hold their annual awareness event at Burleigh Heads.
The Queensland Homicide Victim Support Group (QHVSG) delivers services to those who identify as having lost a loved one to homicide including parents, grandparents, siblings, children and extended family of the deceased.
Support is decided upon on a case by case basis, but can include phone support (24 hours), court support, outreach visits, assistance with understanding the legal system emergency financial assistance and help with identifying potential compensation streams.

Saturday’s event is all about raising awareness about the victims support group within the Gold Coast community.
Gold Coast woman Monique Ferrario lost her brother to homicide five years ago and has encouraged other victims to head along.
“Mum and I have been fairly heavily involved in the group since Mitch died back in 2009,” Monique said.
“It’s been a huge part of our lives – we’re actually both Team Leaders of the Gold Coast group.
“We want people that are in the same situation as what our family found themselves in, to know that they aren’t alone – the group is there to offer support and guidance.”
There will be a sausage sizzle available on the day as well as drinks, raffle tickets and entertainment books with a percentage of sales going to the Gold Coast group.
