Victims remembered one year on from Sydney seige

It has been one year since Man Haron Monis brought ISIL terrorism to Australia and Sydney’s Martin Place.

Monis entered the Lindt Cafe early on December 15 last year and announced that he was taking the 17 staff and customers hostage.

The siege ended more than 16 hours later, but not before cafe manager Tori Johnson, hostage Katrina Dawson and the gunman himself were killed.

The victims are being remembered in a memorial on Tuesday.

A permanent memorial of flower cubes embedded into the concrete of Martin Place has been announced. It’s inspiration was drawn from the thousands of flowers left outside Lindt cafe after the attacks.
