Victoria records 92 new cases, lockdown set to be extended

Victoria has recorded 92 new cases of COVID-19 with the state’s lockdown now almost certain to be extended.

At least 31 of the new cases are yet to be linked to existing cases.

The cases come after more than 51,000 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours.

Victorian officials had expressed concerns on Saturday about a new COVID cluster in Port Melbourne where four mystery cases had been detected.

The outbreak in Shepparton also continues to worry authorities after growing to 85 on Saturday.

Victoria’s lockdown was due to end on Thursday but is expected to be extended for at least a week.

A decision is likely to be announced at a media conference later on Sunday.
