The daily case numbers in Victoria continue to worsen, as the whole state is plunged back into lockdown.
Another 71 infections were recorded overnight, up from 66 reported yesterday and 61 the day before.
That’s despite the city in Melbourne being in lockdown 6 for at least three weeks now, and the rest of regional Victoria brought back into lockdown over the weekend.

Of the new cases this morning, 49 are linked to known outbreaks. However, 22 are under investigation.
Also over the last 24 hour reporting period, 46,446 test results were received, while 22,191 vaccine doses were administered.
There are fears case numbers will continue to get worse, after a massive protest of at least 4,000 people took to the streets of Melbourne on Saturday.
Authorities are expected to provide more information in this morning’s press conference.
