Victoria records another ‘deadliest day’, with 41 coronavirus deaths

Victoria has suffered its deadliest day of coronavirus by far, with 41 deaths reported overnight.

It brings the state’s death toll to 565, and the national death toll to 652.

But, Victorian Health officials say the death toll number now includes 22 historical deaths, that were only just reported by aged care facilities yesterday.

“Today’s deaths total includes 22 people who died in the weeks leading up to 27 August and were reported to DHHS by aged care facilities yesterday,” their Twitter update reads.

The Premier and health officials are expected to provide further details later this morning.

Victoria has also reported just 73 new infections within the last 24 hours, another low number.

It’s the lowest daily figure for weeks now.
