Victoria has recorded it’s lowest amount of new coronavirus cases since July 13, with just 179 positive tests overnight.
It’s the first time the figures have been below 200 in weeks, with authorities pleased to finally see a consistent downturn as a result of harsh lockdown restrictions.
It brings the total amount of active cases to 17,862, while the amount of active cases has gone down by at least 2,000 this week alone.

There are now 4,864 considered active throughout Victoria.
Also overnight, another nine deaths were reported.
The ages and genders are yet to be revealed, but authorities will provide a further update later today.
It brings the state’s death toll to 385, and the national toll to 472.
