Victoria records one new local cases, in addition to two yesterday

There are fears that Victoria will soon be dealing with another coronavirus outbreak after another local case was confirmed in today’s figures.

That’s in addition to the two that were announced yesterday, who’d recently returned from New South Wales on red zone permits.

The new case today is linked to those initial cases, as a household contact. It’s understood there is a fourth household member who is yet to test positive.

Premier Daniel Andrews is so far confident that the virus hasn’t been able to spread beyond that household.

It comes after the Victorian government put an apartment block in Maribyrnong into isolation for 14 days, following reports an infected removalist from Sydney visited there.

The man later tested positive after returning to New South Wales.

It’s understood he was allowed into Victoria for essential work reasons.

Victorian health officials will provide more information later today.
