Victoria’s coronavirus death toll passes 700
Victoria’s coronavirus death toll has reached a grim new milestone this morning, with another seven deaths pushing the toll to 701.
The ages and genders of those new deaths are yet to be revealed, with authorities to provide further information today.
The national coronavirus death toll now sits at 788.
But it’s not all bad news for the state, with case numbers continuing to stay relatively low. Another 51 infections were diagnosed overnight.
It marks a week straight of daily cases staying below 100, a good sign that tough lock down measures are working.
The Victorian Premier and health officials will provide an update later this morning.
