It’s time to dig deep and support the annual Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.
Launched today by Mayor Tom Tate today with help from some singing Christmas angels, the appeal will support Paradise Kids at Hopewell Hospice – a charity which assists children who have experienced loss and grieving.
Mayor Tom Tate said the greatest asset our city had was its residents and he was confident the city would once again dig deep to support this worthy charity.

“We have such a strong sense of community spirit, pride and generosity here at the Gold Coast and this time of year definitely brings the best out in people,” Cr Tate said.
Donations of toys, books, art supplies, movie vouchers, gift cards, electronic goods, games, soft toys, and CDs for children aged 2-5 and 6-11 years can be made at various centres around the city. The wrapped gifts can be placed under the tree.
They will also be collecting for the appeal this Saturday (5 December) at the fourth annual Mayor’s Christmas Carols.
It is the largest free Christmas Concert on the Gold Coast and this year a star-studded Mayor’s Christmas Carols concert on the main stage includes singer songwriter Katie Noonan support by Maske, Soul Mystique and a host of other stars.
“The Broadwater Parklands will come alive with the sights and sounds of Christmas so bring your picnic blanket and get in early to find a great spot to sing along to your favourite Christmas Carols.
“And as always, we will finish the night off with a bang – the spectacular Australia Fair fireworks display.
There will be a variety of great food and refreshments available for purchase, and remember this is an alcohol free event.
