VIDEO: Gold Coaster Jasmine Stringer eyes Miss Universe Australia crown

Jasmine Stringer is eager to do the Gold Coast proud when she hits the stage at the Miss Universe Australia finals in Melbourne on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old brunette beauty is the only Gold Coaster to be selected for the national finals, and joins 30 other hopefuls in the running for the crown. If successful, the former Aquinas College student will represent Australia on the world stage at the 2016 Miss Universe finals.

Stringer has an edge over most of her competition, having already won a beauty pageant at an international level. In 2014, she won the Miss Teenager Universe competition. However she controversially handed the crown back after she was ‘bullied’ by organisers.

Stringer told myGC the experience has made her stronger and she is ready to tackle the competition in Melbourne.

“It’s such an honour to be representing my state and my region,” she said. “I’ve definitely got a little more experience. I’ve had that look into the industry and have been around girls from other countries so I think I can really bring it on the international stage.”
