The Gold Coast Marathon has secured a new naming rights’ sponsor, with Village Roadshow Theme Parks signing a three-year agreement.
Village Roadshow Theme Parks CEO Clark Kirby said the company was proud to align with the IAAF gold label event.
“Similar to our theme parks, the Gold Coast Marathon is such an iconic part of the city and I believe that with the great synergy between the brands, together we can offer a truly world-class event for all involved,” he said.

The partnership will see a significant increase in prize money offered to competitors, with Gold Coast marathon Cameron Hart telling myGC they are hoping to attract the world’s best athletes.
“We are looking at two programs. One is a substantial million dollar prize pool for the fastest runner. Or alternatively, breaking that down into incentives to attract runners from key target markets – for example, putting $200,000 toward having an American national record set on Gold Coast soil,” he said.

The 42nd Gold Coast Marathon will be held 4 – 5 July 2020.
