Virgin Australia cuts Gold Coast to Perth route
Sorry Gold Coasters, but it seems flying to Perth is about to get a little more difficult.
Virgin Australia has announced today that it’s axing it’s direct Gold Coast to Perth route from January 19 next year.
The airline revealed the shock news at their annual general meeting in Brisbane on Wednesday.
Virgin’s Canberra to Perth route has also been ditched from December 6, along with the airline’s Sydney to Christchurch flight from April 29 next year.
Melbourne to Hong Kong will also no longer operate from February 11, 2020.
The cut means Jetstar will be the only airline to fly direct from the Gold Coast to Perth, with flights only three times a week.
Alternatively, Gold Coasters can make the trip up the M1 to get on a flight from Brisbane Airport.
