Von Bibra goes big for kids with sumo suit marathon

VON Bibra Auto Village don’t do things in halves and the team will embellish that ethos when it prepares for one of its biggest campaigns yet in the inaugural Sumo Suit Marathon for Aussie kids.

Running a marathon is a daunting thought for most.  Now imagine completing the 42km run in a sumo suit.

The Gold Coast automotive group already donates $20 from each car sold to either of its charities – Bravehearts and the Animal Welfare League, but are suiting up and going one giant step further.

“Last year we raised more than $90,000 to help fund Bravehearts education and personal safety services for children on the Gold Coast and we are committed to doing the same this year,” says Group General Manager Wade von Bibra.

“The Sumo Suit Marathon and family fun day will be a day of laughs and entertainment while giving back to the community and Von Bibra invites all Gold Coasters to head along.”

Staff at von Bibra will run 1km each until the 42km marathon is complete and all participants will seek donations from friends and family.

The day will also feature fun for the kids, including a jumping castle, face painting, BBQ, live music and athletic events and obstacle courses.

Bravehearts National Engagement Manager Olivia Dean, says innovative, community-inspired events are the future of fundraising for charitable causes.

“The team at von Bibra are great supporters of Bravehearts and it is great to see they are going that extra mile in raising money for Aussie kids,” she says.

“These are the kind of events that galvanise our wonderful community and we encourage everyone to get along to Evandale for what will be a fantastic day with the future safety of our kids the focus.”

Von Bibra is a long-standing and reputable Gold Coast business incepted in 1938 and is owned and managed by Warren Von Bibra and son Wade. It has four locations – Southport, Ferry Rd, Helensvale and Robina.

Bravehearts is Australia’s leading child protection organisation. Its vision is to make Australia the safest place in the world to raise a child by 2020.
