WA: Intruder dies after being restrained by brave home-owner during brazen invasion

IN a bizarre set of circumstances, a man who smashed his way into a Perth home overnight has died after being restrained by the home’s owner.

It’s alleged two men broke into the house on Altone Road at Lockridge shortly after 9pm only to be met by a brave 50-year-old home owner.

After a brief confrontation between the trio, one of the intruders fled on foot, while the male occupant managed to restrain the second offender, believed to be aged in his 30s, until police arrived.

He required medical assistance and was taken to Swan Districts Hospital for treatment, however died a short time later.

The man’s cause of death was not immediately clear.

The Coronial Investigation Unit will lead the police investigation and prepare a report for the Coroner.
