Walk of respect to raise awareness of family violence

Feeling safe in our own homes is a fundamental right that many of us take for granted. Sadly for some, home isn’t a sanctuary – it is a battlefield with no safe shelter.

It’s something communities in Queensland want to change, so they are coming together on Sunday the 11th of October for a state-wide day of action.

Gold Coasters are being asked to take a stand against family violence and say enough is enough by joining in on a walk of respect at Broadwater Parklands. The Walk of Respect will begin at 9.30am and is expected to take 20 minutes.

Walkers are asked to meet at the Great Lawn from 9am. Music and a sausage sizzle are available for walkers to enjoy at the end of the walk and a number of community organisations will be on hand to provide valuable information about domestic and family violence.
