Wallabies legend in serious condition after protecting his family during violent break-in

A Wallabies legend is fighting for life in hospital this morning after he was stabbed at his Brisbane home while protecting his family.

Toutai Kefu and his family were attacked after a home invasion along Buena Vista Avenue in Coorparoo around 3.20 am.

Police and seven ambulance crews were called to the scene, where four people, including Kefu, were assessed for various injuries.

Mr Kefu is understood to be in a serious condition with an abdominal wound, while his son, daughter and wife are all in stable conditions with injuries as well.

They’re all receiving treatment in the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Meantime, a major police investigation is now underway.

It’s understood two male teens have been taken into custody at the scene.

Queensland ambulance provided the following information about the incident:

Four patients were transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital after paramedics were called to a private address at 3.20am.

Seven crews including the High Acuity Response Unit and QAS Medical Director attended the scene:

  • A male patient in his 40s was transported in a serious condition with an abdominal wound.
  • A male patient in his 20s was transported in a stable condition with abdominal and back lacerations.
  • A female patient in her 40s was transported stable with a significant arm injury.
  • A female teenager was transported stable with a hand injury.
