Wannabe robber leaves empty handed after holding up servo at knifepoint

A MAN is on the run after allegedly holding up a service station at knifepoint north of the Gold Coast.

The man allegedly burst into the Kingston Road servo at Waterford West just before 6.30am on Friday and threatened the attendant with a knife, demanding cash.

Police said the employee refused to comply with the demands and the offender left empty-handed.

The armed man is described as Caucasian, approximately 180cms tall with a slim build and aged between 40-55.

He was wearing a black hoodie, with a black cloth covering the bottom half of his face, black pants and carrying a black backpack.

Thankfully, no one was physically injured during the hold-up.

Police have released CCTV images of the man in the hope someone may recognise him.
