Wannabe thief on the run after breaking into Gold Coast optometrist

Investigations are underway after a man forced his way into a denture clinic and optometrist in Southport overnight.

According to police, the man used an “unknown implement” to open the back door of a denture clinic along Ferry Road around 12.45am.

Whilst inside, he then allegedly damaged an interior wall to gain access to the optometrist next door.

The intruder then stashed a number of designer sunglass boxes into his backpack before taking off from the scene.

However, little did he know, all of the boxes were in fact empty.

The thief, who will no doubt be a little red-faced after opening the boxes, remains on the run this morning.
