4pm: POLICE have been ordered to abandon a high-speed pursuit of a wanted car north of the Gold Coast.
The police helicopter, joined by the Channel Seven news chopper, is still overhead following the white Hyundai which is now being driven erratically through Loganholme.
The chase was initiated shortly after 3.30pm in the Logan/Beenleigh area before moving to the southbound lanes of the M1, getting as far south as Jacobs Well Road.
The driver exited the motorway and mounted the footpath to avoid road spikes before getting back on the highway and heading north.
The car was seen driving erratically at excessive speeds of up to 150km/h on the wrong side of the road through residential areas.
It’s understood the car was first detected running a red light in the Logan area.
