Wanted fraudster ripping off Queensland businesses

A man who poses as a cigarette or tyre wholesaler before ripping off businesses is wanted by Police.

He targeted a Nerang business back in February and one in Surfers Paradise in March.

Five others have been hit in the past month, in Caboolture, Gympie, Cairns, Toowoomba and Nambour.

In a statement, Police explained how the man (pictured below) goes about his dodgy practices.

“(He) contacts the business in person or over the phone pretending to be a tyre or cigarette wholesaler,” Police said.

“He then attends the business to receive payment in cash and sometimes has arranged for the items to be delivered by a legitimate wholesaler at the same time.”

“He leaves the business with the cash payment whilst the items are unloaded.”

He is believed to be currently travelling in a white corolla (pictured) although he has used other cars.
