Wanted fugitive hands himself in to Qld Police

Police have confirmed that they have arrested a second Queensland fugitive following the launch of Operation Roam – Fugitive Hunt.

Nicholas Byrne handed himself in at Townsville police station just before 3pm yesterday.

The 46-year-old was charged with child abuse in 2010, however failed to appear for sentencing in Bowen.

He is now assisting police with their enquiries.

Byrnes arrest comes just days after police released a list of 19 fugitives on the run in Australia, appealing for help from the public to try and track them down.

Since Tuesday, four of the 19 fugitives have been arrested.
