Wanted man arrested in Tweed over alleged domestic stabbing

A man has been arrested at a unit in Tweed Heads after a woman was allegedly stabbed in the head, abdomen and leg in a shocking domestic-related incident.

Police issued a public appeal to track down the wanted man yesterday, after he fled the scene of the stabbing at a home on Dundee Drive in Banora Point around 8pm on Sunday.

A 22-year-old woman suffered stab wounds to multiple parts of her body and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

Following a man-hunt and public appeal, police attended a unit on Kennedy Drive at Tweed Heads West about 6.30pm overnight and arrested a 23-year-old man.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with wound with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today.
