Warner given time off ahead of next T20 clash

Stand-in Australian captain David Warner has been granted some time off ahead of the next triangular Twenty20 series match in New Zealand.

Pressure has been mounting on Warner after a recent slump in form in the shorter formats of the game over the summer.

Coach Darren Lehmann confirmed on Monday Warner would appear at the Allan Border Medal count tonight before flying home to Sydney on Tuesday.

He has been given a break to freshen up mentally, before joining the side in New Zealand later this week ahead of Friday’s clash against the Kiwis in Auckland.

The remainder of the T20 squad will head to New Zealand on Tuesday.
